Austin Hit and Run Auto Accidents In The News

I have previously written on the rapid increase in the number of Austin's hit and run car wrecks. This week, KXAN ran a story that detailed the problem. The story notes that there were 10,786 hit and run accidents in 2007 resulting in 13 fatalities. While the overall number of hit and run accidents appears to be down this year, we're on pace for more fatalities than last year. The one bright spot is that the Austin Police Department has been able to arrest more than fifty percent of those that fled the scene in fatal accidents.
