Not completely personal injury news, but for the second time in a month, an Austin driver was sentenced to prison based on a murder charge for a death caused by the driver's drunk driving. Earlier this month, in the first trial of its kind in Travis County, a jury convicted the drunk driver and sentenced him to fifty years in prison. Yesterday's case was a result of a plea bargain that resulted in a thirty year prison sentence. Amazingly, yesterday's plea was the guilty driver's fourth DWI offense. With any luck, the recent convictions will make Austin's roads a little safer for all.
