The Upside to High Gas Prices --- Fewer Car Wreck Fatalities

Professors from Harvard Medical School and the University of Alabama-Birmingham have just released a study predicting that higher gas prices and the resulting decrease in driving could reduce auto deaths by one-third. The study also found that the life savings would be particularly felt among teen drivers. All told, the higher prices could mean a decline of 1,000 deaths per month, though some of that decline could be offset by the move to smaller vehicles or scooters.
