Hampton Direct Toy Trains Recalled - Lead Poisoning Risk

Hampton Direct of Williston, Vt., voluntarily recalled about 27,000 train sets because they were painted with lead paint. The trains were all manufactured in China, and shipped to the United States.

These are specifically magnetic toy train sets that are in the shape of the alphabet and numbers, and are called the Magnetic Alphabet and Number Train Sets. According to the CPSC recall alert, the train sets have an engine, a caboose, and either letters or numbers, depending on the type of train set in question. The alphabet train contains 28 parts, and the letter train contains 12 pieces.

The toy trains were sold through these gift catalogues from December 2005 to July 2007 for about $30: Johnson Smith Company, The Paragon Gifts, Inc., and Starcrest Products of California.
