In medical malpractice news, WOAI has reported that the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services has continued to certify nurse aides even after the agency had previously blacklisted the nurses. The story reports:

A newspaper investigation has found that nurse aides blacklisted by the state for complaints like abuse and stealing money from elderly patients continue to get certified work by the same agency that banned them.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that this occurs despite the aides being listed among 680 caregivers the state wants kept out of its regulated facilities.

Among those banned by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services -- but still recertified by the agency -- is a Plano aide accused of not giving CPR when a patient stopped breathing.

The Austin American Statesman has its own report on the same story.
